still alive and here
I admit: I've spent the last week and a half crashing out over the state of the world and my career.
While the two aren't exactly intertwined, I think living as a disabled creative in the US isn't ideal (at this current moment in time.) My spouse, an immigrant with an employer sponsored green card, wonders out loud, if he should start the process of naturalizing himself, and the only thing I can respond with is: Are you sure you want to do that?
All the while, my friends abroad (many of them Americans who saw the writing on the wall, which pre-empted a move pre-Trump presidency) describe the tension anywhere from "We're staring down the barrel of a potential World War III" to "Yeah, we're not sure where we'll end up, considering no one wants to really take Americans at the moment..."
This is a short post, mainly for myself to process. But if you have friends in the states, please check in on them. Especially if they're in MN.
